Separations

As the previous series evolved it came to a point where I had to leave it and continue on where I felt the work wanted me to go. Fascinated with the results achieved in the final mini series, 432.3, in regards to colour, I wished to create a more dynamic form to contain and mimic the unpredictable nature of the colour. Letting go of my knife, I chose to take a more hands on approach and rip the vellum stencil paper to create the line and subsequently the form. Composition required me to play with the pieces of vellum which had been separated and find where it is they felt most comfortable on the paper. Of great interest to me in this process was the amount of decisions that surfaced and required attention and action. Often the solution seemed rather clear and other times it required a greater amount of play.
