Introduction
Guoman Liao is a good friend that I knew before he started doing photography. When I saw some of his initial portraits, I was immediately drawn to them and felt compelled to give Guoman a simple brand identity and web design that would support and display his imagery in a professional environment.
Branding
Focusing on his main tool of creation, the camera, I looked for uses of type found on them. Drawn to the CNC mono style typography found on the lenses, I used the free Google font, Dosis, which at lighter weights maintains the single line, rounded edge CNC engravings. To strengthen Guoman's relationship and identification to his tool, the type is applied on the path of a circle, highlighting the lense and applied to a basic rectangle frame of a card, conveying a minimal camera feel.
